Parent Zone

Shurdington Pre-School is a registered charity and we strive to provide high quality Early Years Childcare at reasonable prices, relying very much on community support and fundraising. We passionately believe that children benefit most from the Pre-School and Early Years experience when parents, staff and volunteers work together in partnership. This partnership underpins all we do here at Shurdington Pre-School.

We are very much a community Pre-School and rely heavily on the involvement of parents in fundraising and managing the Pre-School. There are many ways you can be involved in your child’s Pre-School experience here at Shurdington and we welcome all contributions that fit in with parents’ and guardians’ other commitments.

Pre-School Fundraising

As a charity and while aiming to cover our costs with the minimum of directly charged fees, we need to supplement our income through fundraising. Throughout the year we run a variety of fundraising events organised through our Committee and all help you can provide is appreciated. Whether you are helping to set up and run an event, letting family and friends know about our Open Days, or donating unwanted gifts to a tombola or raffle, it all helps us run Pre-School for your children.

Please visit our Fundraising page!

Pre-School Committee

Shurdington Pre-School is run by a voluntary Management Committee made up of current and past parents. New parents will always receive a warm welcome at our meetings.

Pre-School Journey Book

During your child’s time at Shurdington Pre-School we will compile a Journey Book together of their achievements and “Magic Moments”. We are currently in the process of transitioning to Tapestry an online learning journal. This is one of the activities you will conduct whilst attending on Rota:

Pre-School Parent Rota

Parents or carers are allocated slots on our rota each term based on the number of sessions your child attends. Please consult the rota chart at the beginning of each term.

When you attend you will be able to observe your child in the setting, consult their Key Worker, and contribute to the effective running of our Pre-School through some light duties like washing dishes.

Failure to attend your Parent Rota duties or to make alternative arrangements has a detrimental effect on this system and can lead to a breakdown in the Parent to Pre-School Agreement. Please see the following document for more detail on Rota:
