Shurdington Pre-School currently employs 10 members of staff. This includes eight permanent staff in our Core Team, our Administrator and two additional staff on our Relief Team.
All Permanent Staff hold CRB checks and have attended Child Protection Training and Paediatric First Aid Training Qualifications.
Tess is our Designated Safeguarding Lead and our Deputy Safeguarding Lead is Kelly. All key personnel hold in-date Paediatric First Aid Training, Child Protection Training and Food Hygiene Certificates.
All staff at Shurdington Pre-School attend regular Continuous Professional Development based on new ideas and strategies in the Early Years sector both in Gloucestershire and nationwide.

Tess is our Play Leader having taken on the role in 2017. Tess has Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) and a BA Honours Degree in Child Psychology. She is also our Designated Safeguarding Lead and first port of call for any enquiries regarding all aspects of Shurdington Pre-School. She is also a mum of two.
Kelly is our Deputy Play Leader holding a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare, Learning and Development. Kelly is our Deputy Safeguarding Lead. Kelly started her journey with Shurdington Pre-School as a parent 12 years ago, becoming an employee a year later whilst she worked towards her NVQ’s. Kelly’s two sons have both attended Pre-School.
Nicola is our fabulous Administrator who works part time in setting and is our go to guru for all things funding and invoice related.
Dot is our Lead Practitioner for Outdoor Play, and is the Room Lead for Butterflies. Dot brings a wealth of creativity and musicality to the team. She holds a BEd Honours, has achieved Early Years Teacher Status and previously worked with the Road Safety Team in Gloucester. Dot has 2 daughters.
Sam is the Room Lead for Caterpillars and has a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare, Learning and Development. Sam is our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo). Also a past parent, Sam was inspired by rota duties, and so took up childcare as a profession leading on to further becoming a SENDCo. Sam has 3 daughters.
Penny is a Play Assistant in Butterflies She holds a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare, Learning and Development and is our Health and Safety Officer: bringing a sense of calm to Pre-School life. Penny has been with us since volunteering at Pre-School when her son attended several years ago. Penny also has two older daughters.
Flo is an Early Years Educator in our Caterpillar Room and has 3 children of her own. She has an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development and is particularly fond of messy plan and all things glitter.
Jane is our fabulous 1-1 Support providing specialist support to children with additional needs. Jane holds a Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Primary Education and over 20 years of SENDCo experience and her wealth of knowledge makes her an invaluable asset to our team.
Lynn works on our Relief Team covering for Staff illness and training but is currently an important part of our Caterpillar Team. Lynn previously worked as Play Leader at Leckhampton Playgroup and has a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare, Learning and Development. She is our Pastoral Care Lead and Staff Liaison Member.
Christina works on our Relief Team covering for Staff illness and training and is currently an important part of our Butterfly Team. Christina holds a BA (Hons) Psychology with Health Studies and also set up her own business as a Childminder. Christina has brought with her a wealth of experience in emotional wellbeing and behaviour support and is a valuable part of the team.
