About Us

Shurdington Pre-School is a ‘pack away’ Pre-School in Cheltenham which shares with other groups in the community and has access all on ground level with entrances that are wide and secure.

We are also fortunate to have a large hall and great garden space in which enables us to offer Free-Flow for the majority of the children’s time in session and has greatly improved our Enabling Environment. Children will always have the option to play outside, irrespective of the weather.

At Shurdington Pre-School we believe all children are unique and make sense of the world around them in their own way. There are similarities in some aspects of play, of mastering a skill or in developing social understanding but each child will achieve this at their own pace, based on their interests, ideas, preferences and previous experiences. We cater for a wide age range in our Caterpillar and our Butterfly Group’s and pride ourselves on ensuring that our Early Years provision is tailor made to each and every child. Our sessions are created around the children attending to ensure they have high quality play and learning experiences. We do this through our Key Person system by planning activities and creating our environment specific to each child’s interests or needs and showing your child’s individual Journey of their experiences on Tapestry.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage: The statutory framework that starts at birth and finishes at the end of your child’s reception year. We use a Development Matters to help us track your child’s journey and ensure that our provision is helping them progress which is available via the gov.uk website.
